The Best Face Washes

The best way to start the year is with a clean face! Here are my favourites…

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

The Best All Rounder: Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, £15. This is the one I always go back to after a break. A gentle cleansing balm, it removes all makeup and leaves skin glowing. Perfect!

Clinique Liquid facial soap

The Best Super Cleanser: Clinique Liquid Facial Soap, £17.50. If you’re feeling in need of a very thorough cleanse but have tetchy, sensitive skin, then reach for this. Gentle but mighty, it will foam a little leaving your face squeaky clean but not at all stripped. Plus you get a huge bottle for the money.

Burt's Bees Orange cleanser

The Best Natural Choice: Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser, £11.49. I don’t know why this cleanser doesn’t get more publicity as it’s so so good. A sort of solid oil / gel consistency, it melts onto the skin and then you rinse it off with a warm-hot flannel. If you’re wearing lots of makeup you might need to do a double cleanse, but I find it very effective for daily cleansing.

Sensitive skin soap

The Best for Pure Cleaning: The Little Soap Company Soap for Sensitive Skin, £3.99. Sometimes only a bar of soap will do. This one will satisfy all your cleansing needs, plus it’s vegan friendly so ideal for Veganuary devotees.

Clinique Foaming face wash

The Best for the Unfussed: Clinique Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser, £17.50. If in doubt, if you have easy-to-care-for-skin, then this Clinique Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser is the best bet. It feels very luxurious as it whips up to a silky-smooth foam on your skin. (Probably not for those with dry skin to use on a daily basis but can be used once a week in between to give your skin a bit of a boost).

Neals Yard face wash

The Best for Dull Skin: Neal’s Yard Rejuvenating Frankincense Facial Wash £17. For skin that needs a little something extra, this is a lovely choice. With natural skin-loving ingredients like jojoba oi, it will gently bring a little life back to your complexion.
