Chelsea Flower Show 2019

RHS Chelsea Flower Show

It’s that time of year again! The wonderful Chelsea Flower Show is upon us. I was lucky enough to go to the Press Day this morning to have a good look round.  Here we go!

This is the M&G garden.  It’s based on a woodland theme with plants and shrubs rubbing shoulders with primitive Equisetum and Restios.

The Savills and David Harber Garden is stunning.  It celebrates the environmental benefit and beauty of trees, plants and grass in urban spaces.

Beautiful planting, light yet dense flora abound.

This is the Resilience Garden. It explores how our forests and gardens can be made resilient to challenges posed by climate change, pests and diseases.

For something a little sunnier, we can look to The Dubai Majlis Garden.

Combining plants from across the world’s arid regions, the garden celebrates the values of unity and collaboration that are essential to the co-existence of Dubai’s diverse culture.

Much to the excitement of the Press, this is the RHS Back to Nature Garden, co-designed by the Duchess of Cambridge.

Woodlands are a strong theme at Chelsea this year, and this is a fantastic display of the beautiful chaos the nature can create.

It’s a natural woodland garden for families and communities for all generations and backgrounds to get together and play, grow plants and spend time in the great outdoors, something that is so important for all of us.

After Chelsea, some of the planting and landscaping will go to the Devon Partnership NHS Mental Health Trust.

And now, onto the Pavilion to cool down!

Roses are the best. Last year I was briefly filmed at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show – click here to see the video! (Warning: blink and you miss me!)

Back outside, I was lucky enough to watch the beautiful choir singing at Chelsea for the Chelsea Pensioners.

One of my favourites was this one: a celebration of Acer trees.

This was a gorgeous one with an important cause: it shows the garden being gradually reclaimed by nature.  It reflects the limitations of maintaining the garden when physically impaired with Motor Neurone Disease.

It has thoughtful sensory details too, with fragrant red roses.

As usual, I had the most perfect day! This year’s Chelsea was absolutely spectacular.
