I hope that nude makeup remains the unchallenged face-fashion champion, at least until I finish typing this blog post.
We’ve been here before – for I fear I am a monoglot when it comes to beauty.
But I do have some new favourites (ever the purveyor of modish makeup!). Nothing beats a fresh, glowing base, bright eyes and a natural lip with a little something special.
Dior Nude Natural Glow Radiant Foundation £32.50
A light foundation for sheer coverage – no one will know you’re wearing foundation.
Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Grandest Gold £17
The fastest way to apply your eyeshadow: a subtle shimmer over your lids will make your eyes sparkle! Apply a little of the Grandest Gold colour at the inner corner of your eyes for a wide-awake look.
Dior Diorskin Nude Air Healthy Glow Invisible Loose Powder £36
One quick swirl of this powder with a kabuki brush over your forehead, down your nose and on your cheeks will set any foundation (or it’s great on its own / with concealer) to perfect your look. And it lasts a very long time.
Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Adrienne £26
I’ve found it. This is the ultimate nude lipstick: smooth, shiny, perfect. Like your lips, but with more oomph.
bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 in The Top Shelf £19
Such a lovely eyeshadow duo: a matt pink and a pearly taupe. So chic.
I listen to eleven o’clock
and feel the grooves of grape skin
and I laugh
in the face of a clown
without the makeup.
On the thrilled edges of town, frilled,
a bumblebee brushes his hair on the tops of cornflowers
and hopes for style advice
vis-à-vis heather and lavender.
Poppy seeds rock
a slow riot
and know nothing of waiting
for the right moment.
