It’s the hottest day of the year… Which can only mean one thing: it’s the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show Press Day!

It was wonderful!

We arrived early and we had the place to ourselves, managing to skip round before it got too hot…

The Alan Partridge Show Garden (featuring Steve Coogan getting ready for his close-up!) is a celebration of structure and local heritage. The garden features Norfolk-grown Larch, gold coated metalwork and planting inspired by the Norfolk landscape.

The Three Graces of Galicia garden honours three influential 19th Century Spanish women – Rosalia de Castro, Emilia Pardo Bazán, and Concepción Arenal and celebrates their contributions as poets, novelists and naturalists.

The RSPB and RHS Swift Garden was an important garden to see. Swifts are on the UK Red List of birds of highest conservation concern, their numbers having plummeted by 68% between 1995 – 2023. This garden celebrates their awe-inspiring journeys and the varied garden habitats they rely on during their breeding season in the UK.

The Oregon Garden was inspired by the natural landscape of the state of Oregon. Pine forests, an abundance of water and insect-attracting planting abound!
As well as the beautiful Show Gardens, Hampton Court demonstrated what’s possible with a small space, like this balcony garden.

^ You can take the girl out of Wimbledon, but you can’t take Wimbledon out of the girl! I was thrilled to see a Womble, quietly reading his book.

The RHS Healer’s Hollow explores the many health benefits that plants can contribute to us. Absolutely stunning planting!

I think my favourite part will always be the Festival of Roses…

With Peter Beales and David Austin roses competing for our attention.

It’s impossible to choose a favourite!

A super day, and so lovely to be back.
