Christmas Book Gift Guide

Christmas books gift list

Imagine receiving a pile of books like this on Christmas Day! I, for one, would be thrilled. This is my list of To Be Read this Christmas. Some new releases, some that have been released this year or a bit before…

Little Fires Everywhere

When a book’s publication date gets brought forward, everyone sits up and listens. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (Hardback £16.99) has taken America by a storm. Set in Cleveland, it tells the story of Mia Warren who moves in and causes a ripple.

Ali Smith Autumn

Shortlisted for The Man Booker Prize, Autumn by Ali Smith (paperback, £8.99) is the perfect book to read as we move from autumn into winter. Absolute perfection and I am so looking forward to reading Winter.

Turtles all the way down

Turtles All The Way Down by John Green (Hardback £7) is the best book to give to all Young Adults this Christmas. Thoughtful and wise.

Franz Kafka The Burrow

Obviously I couldn’t compile a book list without including some short stories! The Burrow by Franz Kafka (£9.99) is a collection of posthumously published collection of short stories by one of the finest short story writers. Some are a mere half-page long, so perfect for those who feel they don’t have time to devote to a big book.

Daisy Dunn Catullus Bedspread

Treat yourself to the best book in the world! Catullus’ Bedspread by Daisy Dunn (paperback £9.99 / hardcover £16.99) tells the life story of the poet Catullus, told in his own words through his poems. A must-read! (I have already read this, natch.)

The Beast Alexander Starritt

I’m always drawn to books based on journalism and I have read terrific reviews of The Beast by Alexander Starritt (Hardback £14.99) so I’m excited to tuck into this!

The Miniaturist

I have had The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton (Paperback £6.29) on my bookshelf for years and I must read it soon as I’m reliably informed that it’s going to be on tv this Christmas so I’d better get started!

Lakeland cookbook

Recipe books are always so well received. This Tagines & More Cook Book (Hardback £5.99 Lakeland) covers all of your succulent, spicy cravings: starters, mains and sides. Perfect!

The Existentialist Cafe

Another book that has been on my shelf for a little while. I’ve heard such good things about At The Existentialist Cafe by Sarah Bakewell (Hardback £14) and I can’t wait to start.
