I had the opportunity to write a small feature in ARGO Magazine, the magazine for the Hellenic Society.
My piece was on a wonderful cookbook called ‘A Taste of Greece‘: an amazing collection of recipes from well-known names and influential foodies, all of whom have personal stories of Greece to share.
(You can tell how much we have relied on this book since it arrived in our house – so many recipes marked as either ‘Delicious – make again!’ or ‘To cook ASAP’.)
Actress and film producer Rita Wilson offers her Greek mother’s recipe for ‘Vassilopita’: a New Year’s sponge cake with a good luck charm hidden in the cake batter before it’s baked.
But it’s also a book bound with a good cause. All proceeds from its sale will go to Boroume: a non-profit organization dedicated to combating malnutrition across Greece and reducing food waste.
Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark, the coordinator of this book, provides her colourful ‘Paxos salad’, made with chicken, figs and grilled halloumi. Even in our current chilly climate, it still sounds very appealing!
A must-have for keen cooks this Christmas!
A Taste of Greece, published by teNeues, RRP £19.
Very exciting!
