Weekend in Chichester

Chichester

A few weeks ago I went to Chichester for a quick trip.

Chichester

I say ‘a few weeks’ but flicking through these pictures again it looks remarkably like a different species of season!

Chichester

Remember the warm blanket of sun wrapping itself rapidly round and round you? The permanent sensation of sunglasses on your head? Retrieving a flip flop with the tips of your toes from a firmly horizontal position on a sun lounger in such a way as to not disturb your 99 flake ice cream?

Chichester

Good!

Chichester

Chichester is a sweet and lively town and when we first arrived, we headed through the town to get our bearings…

Before going to West Wittering beach…

By which time the weather had resolutely changed its mind and mood, opting for a scene rich with clouds.

  1. What a lovely description of summer with an interesting set of photos….You have captured the sweet charm of the narrow side-streets with some characteristic flint-napped walls and also the beauty of the West Whittering. Did you not visit Chichester Cathedral during your weekend? I would love to hear your take on the lovely place. It is home to one of Marc Chagall’s stained glass windows and unlike the 12 blue windows in Tudeley Chapel where we used to live, this is bright red. It looks simply amazing when they place red flowers under it every other year at the flower festival….also the cathedral is home to the Arundel Tomb. The double effigies of the knight Richard and his Lady Eleanor who lie with their hands touching. It was the inspiration for Philip Larkin’s famous poem which muses on time, mortality and the nature of love.
